La serie basada en las novelas "Canción de Hielo y Fuego" de George R.R. Martin, competirá en la categoría de "Mejor serie dramática" contra "Breaking Bad", "Downton Abbey", "House of Cards", "Mad Men" y "True Detective".

La ceremonia se realizará el 25 de agosto desde el Teatro Nokia de Los Ángeles y será conducido por Seth Meyers, conocido por su participación en "Saturday Night Live".
